Enligt säkra källor kommer Calder bli en av publikfavoriterna i " nya Lakerdome "
Tror vi går en riktigt trevlig säsong tillmötes. Man längtar....

No, that's not what i meant. Just keep posting! (but i prefer in English =) )
I think fights like this are more popular in England than here. Some fans here might like it, but most of them think it is bad for the team, losing a good player for the entire game. I don't think the coach like it either. Especially not when he is the player starting the fight...

o.k i just misunderstood you. yes but at least i know now to improve my swedish a bit more before posting in swedish again
I am gonna keep learning swedish. I just thought i would try my swedish writing skills out but i think i should do a bit more learning. i can read swedish o.k its just writing and speaking it.

Yes i can see what you mean as you dont want to lose your best players for the whole game just for a fight but in the u.k the penalties for fighting are 2+2 for roughing. Calder just got a lot of 10 minute misconducts over here because the referee's are very strict. You have a really good player there. Do you know Rob Davison from the NHL? Calder fought him also.
Thanks (Tack)

For this fighting he would definitely get match penalty in Sweden. I think the referees are more strict here.

Would he be suspended for that kind of fighting in sweden? and how often does that kind of fighting happen? Do you think Calder will get in any fights in sweden?
Posted: 2 July 2005, 00:07
by buck
In sweden the refs usually interrupts the fighting as soon as it begins. If the player throws his gloves it's match penalty (suspended the ongoing + the following match) right away.
Brawling like on the video you posted is rare, but it use to be a couple of roughing penaltys per match.
Why dont come over and see some swedish hockey this winter?

I think he would be suspended for that game and the game after. Smaller fights happens sometimes but fights like this are not very common. I didn't see all games last season. The only fight I remeber that can be compared to this was in the last home game with the NHL player Shjon Podein. If Calder plays like in England I think he will be in many fights here, but hopefully he will learn how we play hockey in Sweden and can control himself more.

I asked if he got so many penaltys because that he took a lots of fights or if the referees judge different that hes is used to.
But you has allready answerd the question.
thanks for the film

It would definitly be match-suspension (and the following match to) for that fight that was shown on the film. But as allready someone has said, those types of fights are not very common in Sweden. It's much more common with small fights were they keep there gloves on!
I can only remember one game when that happend the last season, and that was in one of Lakers most importent games (against Nyköping). Podein got angry and beat a guy up and got a 2 game suspension for that! It was funny to see though!

Why dont come over and see some swedish hockey this winter
i was planning on doing that but not this winter coming, the next winter after that hope Calder stays at Växjö so i can see him play again. When my swedish gets really better in about 2 years i'm going to come to sweden for a couple of months and see lots of swedsih hockey.

yes. when he first came to the u.k he was always getting in roughings and that one fight but then got cross checked in the head so he carmed down. Then at the end of the season though he started fighting again. He fought 2 people in the last 10 games. He is really good at making the opposition take penalties as he can get on palyers nerves aswell. Shjon Podein is a really good player will he be playing for Växjö next year?

Calder_25 wrote:Shjon Podein is a really good player will he be playing for Växjö next year?
Nope, he has allready played here for two seasons. He has as we say in Sweden, "lagt skriskona på hyllan". That means that he wont be playing hockey anymore.
He was awsome in his first season here. The second season he was not that good, but he was overall a good player and very useful for the team, specially in PP and BP! If he took plays in front of the goalie no one could get him away from there!

Calder hasn't arrived yet so obviously he hasn't played any games...
He will arrive on September 12th so he'll only play one practicegame before the "real" season begins.
